Government
The government of Cornerstone Community is shared by the pastor (a teaching elder), and a board of ruling elders, who are all elected and ordained by the congregation in an annual meeting. All active members have a vote, and the congregation retains authority to approve each year's budget. In addition to choosing elders and pastors (teaching elders), the congregation may choose also to elect and ordain deacons for the purpose of planning fellowship meals and visiting the sick, needy, and shut-in. The polity of the church is according to the Constitution of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, which consists of the Book of Order, the Book of Discipline, the Book of Worship, and the Westminster Confession.
The congregation is associated with the Presbytery of Mid-America of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, which has four meetings a year in different cities. However, the individual congregation retains control over its own property. Each congregation is represented in the Presbtery by two ruling elders for every pastor or teaching elder.
